Larger Than Life is a fund established in memory of David Hynes, dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by sarcoma — a rare cancer that occurs in the bones and soft tissue.

Funds raised are supporting sarcoma research at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne through the REMOD (Tissue Engineering and Modelling of Osteochondral Diseases) program. This groundbreaking research has developed 3D-bioprinted models of osteosarcoma using patient tumour cells, creating patient-specific “avatars” to better understand the disease and test potential treatments.

Community support has also funded the recruitment of a sarcoma research nurse and will continue to fund research roles to expand the program and accelerate discoveries that improve outcomes for people affected by sarcoma.
